The following pictures
are actual roofs that could have been saved if
they had been protected. |

This is an example of Oriental cooking and what
can happen to a roof over time.

A close up of the actual absorbent material.
This extremely absorbent material picks up
several times its weight in oil or grease, but
will not absorb water.
 |
|
Another example of Oriental grease. In this
case they were using a non compliant fan. If
there were a fire, the flames would have been
blow straight down on to the grease saturated
roof.

Evidence of grease eating through a roof on a
fast food outlet at a bowling alley.

The
Roof Grease Protection System can also be
attached under wall mounted fans.

Some people think the best way to absorb grease
is to use old cloths. What do you think?

One of Phil Ackland's Roof Grease Protection
Systems that is ready to be changed out.

 |
This system really needs a Phil Ackland Roof
Grease Protection System. They have a box
(supplied by the fan manufacturer) but the
grease is leaking out another location on the
fan. They need to put in a Grease Snake and
complete system. Unfortunately it is too late
for the roof. The grease has destroyed the
material. |

a quarter pound hamburger grill fan.

Here we see a literal lake of grease from a
charbroiler hamburger chain.

This home made solution was to put a gutter
panel under the spout of the fan and drain it
into a 5 gallon bucket. But the bucket filled
with grease and rainwater overflowing over the
roof.

Tragically this grease is a trap for birds that
land in it!
